Consultants In Fertilizer, Potash, Light Metals And Alkali Metals

Kazan Soda Maden Enerji Nakliyat Sanayi Ve Tic A.Ş. A.Ş (Kazan Soda) is owned by Ciner Holding one of the largest Turkish conglomerate groups. This greenfield project involves the construction of a new Dense Soda Ash and Sodium Bicarbonate Process Plant in the Kazan Province of Turkey, approximately 35 km North‐West of Ankara. The project will use solution mining to extract the ore. Ciner Holding owns the mining license for the Natural Trona Mine Area.

The Soda Ash (Sodium Carbonate) and Sodium Bicarbonate Process Plant Facility will have a net production capacity of 5 x 500 000 tpy of Dense Soda Ash and 2 x 100 000 tpy of Sodium Bicarbonate. The necessary thermal and electrical power shall be provided from a natural gas fired cogeneration power plant.

NOVOPRO was engaged by Kazan Soda as owner’s engineer for both the development and implementation stages of the project. During the engineering development stage, Novopro’s role included process optimization and design work with the development of the ELDM (Evaporation, Lime addition, Decahydrate crystallization and Monohydrate Crystallization) process including stripping, caustic generation, drying, loadout and tailings management. As part of the implementation stages, Novopro was responsible for preparation of the EPC packages for complete supply of the solution mining and processing facility.

Calcium Chloride Production IMPASCO

The Calcium Chloride Production Project at Khur‐Biabanak Potash Plant is located at 25 km east of the city of Khur on the road connecting Khur and Tabas. Khur is the center of the Khur‐Biabanak County and is the easternmost city in Isfahan Province located in Central Iran with the elevation of 796 m from the sea level.

The project was designed to produce 30,000 metric tons per year of Anhydrous Calcium Chloride (CaCl2 powder). The feed brine is recovered from evaporation ponds and mixed with slaked lime (Ca(OH)2) to produce magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2) and calcium chloride (CaCl2).

NOVOPRO provided the detailed designs of the following equipment:

  • Filter press for magnesium hydroxide removal
  • Rising film evaporator for calcium chloride brine enrichment
  • Spray drier/cooler for calcium chloride powder crystallization

NOVOPRO also conducted a Feasibility Study for the optimisation of carnallite ponds, pond modelling for increasing output of carnallite harvest.

Pozuelos Pastos Grandes LSC Lithium

Consultants In Fertilizer, Potash, Light Metals And Alkali Metals

A Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) was prepared on the Pozuelos and Pastos Grandes (PPG) Project in Salta, Argentina and features brine extraction from Salar de Pozuelos and Salar de Pastos Grandes, and processing facility for the production of 20,000 tons per annum of Battery Grade Lithium Carbonate. Brine will be extracted from Pozuelos and Pastos Grandes via wells drilled on the surface of each salar, and carried to evaporation ponds or concentration ponds located at Pozuelos, where Li concentration will be increased by means of solar evaporation and chemical reactions. The concentrated brine is then transported to the processing plant, where it will be chemically treated and purified to acquire the final battery grade Lithium Carbonate (Li2CO3).

NOVOPRO performed qualified person (QP) sign-off for the following NI 43-101 PEA chapters:

  • Chapter 13 - Mineral Processing and Metallurgical Testing
  • Chapter 17 - Recovery Methods

And provided process-related input for the following chapters:

  • Chapter 21 - Capital and Operating Costs
  • Chapter 22 - Economic Analysis
  • Chapter 24 - Other Relevant Data
  • Chapter 25 - Interpretations
  • Chapter 26 - Recommendations
